When children reach the end of their phonics-based reading programme, what comes next?

Transitioning from a phonics programme to reading independently can quickly become daunting and frustrating for some readers, with books that are too long or complex to keep them interested.

Our Post-phonics programme is carefully designed to build confidence and to make these next steps enjoyable. Our wide range of levelled readers will capture imaginations, entertain even the most reluctant readers, and inspire children to keep on reading. The books are designed to help children develop their reading stamina, build fluency and promote comprehension.

With our Post-phonics programme, children will develop the skills they need to move on confidently from phonics-based programmes to become lifelong readers.

Three levels so children can select from a range of books appropriate to their reading level.
Highly-illustrated books with simple sentence construction and short page counts ensure children don’t feel daunted as they move to independent reading.
Twenty four books in each level so there are plenty of titles to keep readers entertained.
A variety of formats and sizes – these are real books that children can feel proud to read.
A wide range of topics and genres, from character-led fiction, graphic novels, and mysteries to high-interest non-fiction and curriculum topics.
Many books feature activities to help children engage with the topic and promote critical thinking.
Non-fiction books include glossaries, tables of contents, indexes, captions and other non-fiction features to help children start Reading to Learn.
Schools that purchase the programme will be sent sticker sheets for each level, so they can keep track of the books within their setting.
